New Staff Tag and battery powered Ultrasound Receiver

Additions to Sonitor’s Ultrasound RTLS strengthen further the technology’s position as the ultraSoundTM choice for hospitals and long term care facilities.

The addition of battery operation to Sonitor’s line of high definition ultrasound receivers allows completely wireless installation without the need for any external power source or wired network connection. The battery powered, Wi-Fi receiver is easy to locate wherever positioning detection is desired, and provide high accuracy sub-room capability.

The new Staff Tag, developed in close cooperation with leading healthcare information technology providers and their hospital clients, is small and lightweight and allows the facility’s personal identification badge to be easily attached to provide an integrated badge system. The Staff Tag also features two buttons and a multi-color LED that enables the wearer to communicate requests or status remotely, thus saving time and enhancing workflow.

The Staff Tag is designed to fit into Sonitor’s partner’s workflow and visibility solutions together with the Patient Tag and Equipment Tag, and as with all of the company’s tags, this new Tag also takes advantage of Sonitor’s hallmark sub-room location performance, enabling automatic functions such as nurse-call cancellation and log-on/log-off access to patient information. These advanced functions and others are contained in the application software developed by the company’s positioning solutions partners.

“These new products are further proof of our leadership in developing highly accurate locating systems utilizing Sonitor’s patented ultrasound technology,” said Dick Tabbutt, Executive Chairman of Sonitor Technologies, Inc. “Hospitals and long-term care facilities need reliable sub-room accuracy in their real time locating systems in order to achieve workflow and patient care improvements, and Sonitor is continuing to set the standard in delivering on that need.”

Both new products will be exhibited in Sonitor’s booth #2741 at the HIMSS 2010 conference, to be held in Atlanta, March 1-4, at the Georgia World Conference Center.
